Hold Me Tight® (HMT) Couples Workshop

The Hold Me Tight® (HMT) Couples Relationship Enhancement Workshop: Conversations for Connection

Couples who want to grow stronger together and rekindle the spark that drew you together are invited to join this wonderfully experiential and interactive relationship education programme based on the book Hold Me Tight®: Seven Conversations for A Lifetime of Love by Dr Sue Johnson, the founder of Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT).

Each HMT series comprises two days of short, lively presentations to the group and watching short video clips of couples taking part in HMT sessions with Dr Sue Johnson followed by safely facilitated, deeply engaging, intimate conversations that help each couple develop more openness, responsiveness and trust in each other. The healing happens in the conversations. The group rejoin after each private couple conversation and those who wish can share their experiences so we all learn from each other. These open-hearted couple conversations provide a stable foundation for safe, loving relationships.

Who can attend

This workshop is open to couples who are struggling in some way, maybe arguing, growing distant or who just want to deepen trust and intimacy within their relationship. The workshop can be a prelude to couple therapy but is not for couples in acute distress who would initially benefit from couple therapy to overcome their relationship distress.

If your relationship has become like a wilting plant in need of some watering, then HMT might be what is needed to spring it back to life. It is also ideal for committed couples who want to improve their communication and connection or couples who have just started dating or are about to commit to a long-term relationship. All races, religions and sexual orientations are welcome.

Please be aware that the Hold Me Tight® Programme can be a prelude, but not a substitute, for individual or couple therapy. If you or your partner are experiencing acute relationship distress, serious depression or other mental health problems, you are also advised to seek individual or couple therapy.

Workshop Objectives

By the end of the Workshop, you will:

  • Understand the real underlying reasons you get into the same old struggles
  • Change the negative patterns that leave you both frustrated, angry, lonely or hurting
